Storm Reid has a message for homophobic viewers of the HBO show The Last Of Us.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reid addressed the backlash against The Last Of Us for two episodes, one being last Sunday’s in which she featured in, as well as the third episode, âLong, Long Time,” which chronicles the romance of Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett).
âLike Bella said when episode 3 came out: If you donât like it, donât watch,â Reid said to Entertainment Weekly. âWe are telling important stories. Weâre telling stories of peopleâs experiences, and thatâs what I live for. Thatâs what makes good storytelling because we are telling stories of people who are taking up space in the world.â
Reid, who also stars in the HBO show Euphoria, appears in The Last Of Us episode 7 as Riley, the love interest to Ellie (Bella Ramsay).
The actress further asserted her stance on the HBO showâs queer-centric storylines in the wake of Sunday’s episode, âLeft Behind,” which focuses on the relationship between Riley and Ellie.
âItâs 2023. If youâre concerned about who I love, then I need you to get your priorities straight,â she said. âThereâs so many other things to worry about in life. Why are you concerned that these young people â or anybody â love each other? Love is beautiful, and the fact that people have things to say about it, itâs just nonsense.â
The Last of Us airs Sundays on HBO.
