Writer/producer James Vanderbilt, who is currently rebooting the Scream film series with Scream 5, will now take on rebooting The Nutty Professor .
Deadline reports from sources that Vanderbilt and his Project X Entertainment will shop their project to prospective buyers. Because of how new the project is, there’s currently no word on if The Nutty Professor reboot will be a remake of the original Jerry Lewis film from the ’60s, or if it will be a new take on Eddie Murphy’s ’90s-’00s version of the classic film.
Murphy has a lot of comedies in the works right now, including Coming 2 America, Beverly Hills Cop 4 and Triplets a sequel to the 1988 comedy Twins starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. If Murphy does take part in The Nutty Professor reboot, he will certainly have his proverbial dance card full for the next few years.
