“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” is an upcoming 2016 fantasy adventure film directed by Tim Burton, and written by Jane Goldman, based on the 2011 novel of the same name by Ransom Riggs (what a great name for an author!).
The story centers on a 16-year-old boy named Jacob Portman, who accidentally works himself onto a mysterious island where he helps a group of peculiar, orphaned children, all with strange powers and traits, at Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, protecting them and leading them away from horrible creatures known as Wights and Hollowgasts, who are out to destroy them.
The film stars Asa Butterfield as Jacob, and Eva Green as Miss Peregrine.
The starring cast also includes Ella Purnell, Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Kim Dickens, Rupert Everett, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson, who plays a character named Barron, one of the “Wights” creatures that hunt and kill peculiars (as the children are called).
And the character poster for Barron (above), released this morning by 20th Century Fox, certainly looks like he fits the description!
You can find the rest of the character posters via the “Miss Peregrine” Twitter page here.
Filming began in February 2015 in London and the Tampa Bay Area. It is scheduled to be released domestically (USA) on September 30, 2016 by Fox.
Now the full new trailer for the film has just been released. But don’t blink or you’ll miss Jackson who appears in it for two seconds.
