The third The Walking Dead series has added Aliyah Royale to the cast.

Royale and Annet Mahendru have joined Hal Cumpston, Alexa Mansour and Nicolas Cantu in the currently untitled series. The casting announcement was made during San Diego Comic-Con.

The new series, co-created by The Walking Dead writer/producer Matt Negrete and The Walking Dead creator Scott Gimple, will follow the first generation into adulthood in the zombie apocalypse. According to the logline: “Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever.” Negrete will act as showrunner with Jordan Vogt-Roberts directing. Production on the unnamed series will begin next week in Richmond, VA and surrounding areas.

The Walking Dead panel at Comic-Con made waves after Danai Gurira confirmed she would not be returning to the series after Season 10. The news marks a big shift in the original series, which is expanding into the territory of feature-length films.

This will be the second spinoff of The Walking Dead, joining Fear the Walking Dead, which has been running for five seasons.

Royale, a relative newcomer, starred in Ava DuVeray and Greg Berlanti’s event series, The Red Line, earlier this year.
