The Wrecking Crew stars Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista have brotherly love for each other on and off-screen.

The two stars of the film spoke with Blavity/Shadow and Act Managing Editor Trey Mangum about the project. Momoa said that for him, working with Bautista is a must.

“I’ll put it this way… I love when you find something that’s good, we don’t need to change it. There [are] many things him and I will be able to do, and I will always work with Dave.”

How their friendship grew beyond the screen

“I think we discovered that when we were working on See together and having, you know, fun working together, but having more fun when we weren’t working together, you know?” Bautista added. “So that’s kind of how that all stemmed. We realized we had a good working relationship and an even better personal relationship. We could definitely coexist in the same place and really be supportive of each other.”

“[A]nother thing that I really appreciated about Jay early on is how much he invested,” said Bautista. “He is in the creative process of everything he does. I think a lot of people wouldn’t know that about him, but he’s really creative. I mean, even this premise—the premise of this film—was his idea.”

The Wrecking Crew follows two half-brothers (Momoa and Bautista) who are forced to reunite after the mysterious death of their father. The two work together to find out what took place, but, according to the description, “buried secrets resurface and loyalties are tested, unveiling a conspiracy that can tear their family apart. Together, they are ready to WRECK anything that gets in their way.”

Filmed in Hawaii, The Wrecking Crew is directed by Ángel Manuel Soto from a script by Jonathan Tropper. Claes Bang, Temuera Morrison, Jacob Batalon, Frankie Adams, Miyavi, Stephen Root and Morena Baccarin also star.
