Over the weekend, at the Toronto International Film Festival, attendees were treated to an exclusive, TIFF Members-only first look at Theodore Melfi’s new feature film “Hidden Figures.”
On Saturday, September 10, 20th Century Fox presented exclusive footage of the film, followed by a Q&A with stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, and soundtrack composer Pharrell Williams, as well as the filmmakers, which was followed by a concert with Williams and friends for select TIFF Members.
“Hidden Figures” tell the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe), brilliant African American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world.

For the rest of us who couldn’t attend the TIFF events, there was also a Facebook LIVE Q&A with Pharell, Henson, Spencer, and Monáe also on Saturday, during which fan questions were answered. The entire Q&A is now available online to watch, as well as highlights from the outdoor concert which featured Pharrell and Kim Burrell, with local gospel group Echoes of Praise performing “I See a Victory” from the “Hidden Figures” original soundtrack.
The film hits theaters January 13, 2017.
Below, watch the Facebook Live Q&A in full, followed by some concert footage.
