Tiffany Haddish has joined the cast of Universal Pictures’ “Girl Trip,” which will be directed by Malcolm D. Lee, and produced by Will Packer.

The actress rounds out the starring cast, joining Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Regina Hall in a film scripted by Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver (both scripted this year’s “Barbershop: The Next Cut” which Malcolm D. Lee also helmed), which follows 4 lifelong friends who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, where sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, and there’s enough dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to make the Big Easy blush.

Haddish will play the 4th friend.

Also in the cast are Mike Colter and Larenz Tate, although no word on what specific characters they are set to play.

James Lopez, head of motion pictures for Will Packer Productions, will executive produce.

Previously set for an August 11, 2017 release, the studio has moved that date up about 3 weeks to July 21.

Haddish was most recently seen in New Line’s comedy “Keanu,” starring Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. On the small screen, she co-stars in Jerrod Carmichael’s NBC comedy series, “The Carmichael Show,” which was recently picked up for a third season. You can also catch her on OWN’s primetime soap, “If Loving You Is Wrong.”

Haddish is represented by APA, Principato-Young and Del Shaw.
