TV One’s latest original movie (the network has been producing quite a few of them lately, in case you haven’t noticed) “A Weekend with the Family” premieres this Sunday, July 17 at 7pm E.T. The film follows Travis Stankershet (Marques Houston) a young attorney who looks to gain a position at a prestigious law firm. Travis’ loving girlfriend Courtney Clancy (Karrueche Tran) decides to arrange a surprise family weekend get-together, however things don’t go as planned with the arrival of his outlandish family, the Stankershets.
When Far East customs come up against the salt of the earth folks from the Deep South, hilarity ensues, says the press release. In the end, Travis must find a way to make the two families peacefully co-exist long enough for him to propose to the woman he loves.
Co-starring as Travis’ parents are Wendy Raquel Robinson as Nip Stankershet, Clifton Powell as Dingo Stankershet; playing Courtney’s parents are Dorien Wilson as John Clancy and Suzanne Whang as Sue Clancy.
The ensemble cast includes Shondrella Avery, Black Thomas, Chantel Jeffries, Tammy Townsend, and Jarell “J-Boog” Houston.
“A Weekend With The Family” was directed by Christopher B. Stokes from a script written by Stokes and Chaz Echols. Robyn Greene Arrington is vice president of original programming for TV One; and D’Angela Proctor is head of original programming.
