Among the project announcements made during Lifetime network’s TCA tour presentation in January was the Viola Davis-produced drama “Custody,” which she also co-stars in.
From theater director James Lapine, “Custody” is set in family court in New York, and sees Davis playing a Judge Martha Sherman, who presides over a custody case of a young woman (played by Catalina Sandino Moreno) who is on the verge of losing her children.
Via her still relatively young JuVee production company (launched just a couple of years ago), Davis is executive producer on the project, along with Lauren Versel and Katie Mustard.
On the heels of her Academy Award win over the weekend, for her performance in “Fences,” Lifetime will premiere “Custody” this Saturday night, March 4th, at 8/7c.
Hayden Panettiere, Ellen Burstyn and Tony Shaloub round out the starring cast.
“Custody” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year.
