Professional boxer-turned-actress Kali Reis is joining Jodie Foster in the upcoming fourth season of HBO’s True Detective.
Reis and Foster will play Alaskan detectives who are investigating a crime in the middle of the Arctic Circle.
The official synopsis reads:
“When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) must confront their pasts and the dark truths lying underneath the Arctic ice.”
The True Detective Twitter page posted the image as well as footage from the upcoming season, giving fans a closer look at the detectives as they uncover the mystery at hand.

Reis’ casting was announced June 2022 along with news of Foster being cast. The series will be executive produced by showrunner/writer/director Issa López and Foster with Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak executive producing via PASTEL. Alan Page Arriaga will also write and executive produce with Anonymous Content, Mari Jo Winkler, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Cary Joji Fukunaga and Nic Pizzolatto are also executive producing.
The last season of True Detective starred Mahershala Ali, Deborah Ayorinde, Carmen Ejogo, Ray Fisher, Stephen Dorff, Michael Greyeyes, Mamie Gummer and Scoot McNairy. Ali played Arkansas detective Wayne Hays whose investiagtion of a missing children’s case spans over three different time periods starting in 1980.
