Apple TV+ unveiled the trailer for the upcoming season of the anthology series Truth Be Told, starring Octavia Spencer, who is joined by Gabrielle Union for the new season.

Spencer, who also executive produces, will reprise her role as investigative reporter turned true crime podcaster, Poppy Scoville. Also joining Spencer for the third season of Truth Be Told is Union, who is currently receiving rave reviews for her performance in Elegance Bratton’s war drama The Inspection.

Based on Kathleen Barber’s novel While You Were Sleeping, Truth Be Told explores America’s obsession with true crime podcasts and challenges its viewers to consider the consequences when the pursuit of justice is placed on a public stage. In season three, Poppy (Spencer), frustrated by the lack of media attention for several young missing Black girls, teams with an unorthodox principal (Union) to keep the victims’ names in the public eye, while chasing down leads to a suspected sex trafficking ring that may have ensnared them.

In addition to Spencer and Union, the third season of Truth Be Told will also feature Mekhi Phifer, David Lyons, Ron Cephas Jones, Merle Dandridge, Tracie Thoms, Haneefah Wood, Mychala Faith Lee and Tami Roman.

The third season of Truth Be Told will make its debut on Jan. 20 with the first episode, followed by one new episode weekly Fridays through March 24. Watch the trailer below.
