There’s been a lot of dissecting, discussion and excitement around Jordan Peele’s Us trailer. But the one thing that’s blowing up the internet right now? Winston Duke’s Howard University sweatshirt.
Duke’s character’s sweatshirt got everyone, especially HBCU alumni, even more hyped for the film’s March 15, 2019 release. A lot of folks, particularly HU grads, were happy to see the university predominately featured in the film. Howard University itself gave a shout-out to Peele with hope of setting a campus screening in motion.
Of course, the scene gave alumni from other HBCUs a chance to rib Howard, including one person who invoked the memory of Howard “graduate” and scammer, Tyrone Hankerson.
Check out the responses to the sweatshirt below:

March can’t get here fast enough, @JordanPeele need to make this a @netflix series, shout out to him making Get Out down here in Alabama and @Winston_Duke wearing that Howard University shirt, but a #AAMU shirt would have looked better on him #HBCU #MerryChristmas pic.twitter.com/l9qnad3nT9
