Bresha Webb, Phylicia Rashad, Crystal Fox and Tyler Perry recently spoke with Shadow And Act’s Trey Mangum about what it’s been like to work on Perry’s first Netflix film, Tyler Perry’s A Fall From Grace.
“I was on the edge of my seat just reading it,” said Webb, who called the script a “page-turner.”
“I was so happy to be a part of it…These were real people going through real situations, and I was just so excited just to play Jasmine, a woman that’s conflicted and has the world on her shoulders, she feels, just by this case,” she said.
She also said that the film gives her fans a chance to see a new side to her. “I’m very thankful to Mr. Tyler Perry for giving me that opportunity,” she said.
Rashad, who plays Sarah in the film, also mentioned how the film focuses on the relatability of the characters. “You can see the humanity in them–I could,” she said. “They were real. And that’s important.”
Fox, who plays the film’s main character Grace, gave thanks to Perry for showcasing her acting ability in his projects. “I feel like I’ve been carrying the craft that I’ve worked on so long for this opportunity,” she said. “And I am trying my best to enjoy it and stand in the certainty of what it’s become, but I owe that to Tyler.”
Perry also gave a hint that he could work with Netflix in the future, creating more projects, while creating even more projects with BET+, the streaming service he helped create with BET.
“I absolutely love working with Netflix. We’ve been talking about it for a very long time,” he said, adding that working with the streaming giant has been “incredible.”
He said his meeting with Netflix was “the most diverse meeting I’ve ever been in in Hollywood…I was so proud of Netflix at that moment.”
