Netflix has taken the global rights to an upcoming A24 crime dramedy which Lakeith Stanfield has just boarded.
Stanfield joins Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems.
Both actors have a history with the streaming giant. Stanfield appeared in Death Note and is set for Someone Great with Gina Rodriguez and DeWanda Wise. Uncut Gems, however, is not a part of Sandler’s pact with Netflix.
Here’s the Uncut Gems description per Deadline, who exclusively reported this news: Set in the Diamond District of New York City, Sandler will star as a jewelry store owner with a gambling addiction who is juggling two relationships and escalating debts. Stanfield will play a key ally to a famous client of the jewelry store.
Martin Scorsese is an executive producer.
Stanfield will be seen soon with Claire Foy in The Girl in the Spider’s Web.
