Deadline is exclusively reporting on a shakeup at VH1 that could impact two of its long-running reality shows.
It is being reported that VH1 has removed two of its production companies, Eastern TV and Shed Media USA, from their respective shows, Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood and Basketball Wives, in an attempt to retool both shows.
The music-turned-reality show network has invited new producers to pitch ideas for both shows in a quest to take them into new directions. It is being speculated that a bid to retool Basketball Wives will lead to more spinoffs.
While it will no longer be involved with Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, Eastern TV will still helm the production of its spinoff shows set in New York, Miami and Atlanta. Both the Basketball Wives and Love & Hip Hop franchises have garnered backlash for their negative depiction of Black and Latinx men and women on television.
