In this exclusive featurette from The Hate U Give, star Anthony Mackie talks about the Black family tradition of “The Talk.”
The Hate U Give opens with a scene featuring the “The Talk,” with Maverick (Russell Hornsby), father to young Starr (Kai Ture) and Seven (Hassan Welch), giving the dreaded talk many Black parents have to give to their children about interacting with the police.
In the exclusive clip provided to Shadow and Act, Mackie, who portrays King in the film, discusses the first time he was given “The Talk.”
