I appreciate this ongoing series from Variety titled “Actors on Actors,” which features pairs of actors interviewing each other. We’ve featured a number of past episodes from the franchise. It’s not entirely unlike the roundtables that The Hollywood Reporter produces every year; but I love the one-on-one sans moderator format of Variety’s series.
A new set of “Actors on Actors” Emmy season interviews have begun rolling out; of those that have been made available online thus far, of most interest to readers of this blog is this 40-minute conversation between Thandie Newton (“Westworld”) and Oprah Winfrey (“The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks”), who dig deep into their respective HBO programs, upcoming projects, the craft of acting, as well as recall their time filming “Beloved” together, 20 years ago. How time flies…
Below, watch Newton and Winfrey in conversation on “Actors on Actors.”
