Neon has released the first trailer for the Sundance selection, Monsters and Men.
It is the feature directorial debut of Reinaldo Marcus Green, who is a Sundance Institute Directors and Screenwriters Lab alumnus (S&A spoke to him about the fellowship here).
This interwoven narrative explores the aftermath of a police killing of a black man. The film is told through the eyes of the bystander who filmed the act, an African-American police officer and a high-school baseball phenom inspired to take a stand.
It stars John David Washington, Anthony Ramos, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Chanté Adams, Nicole Beharie, Rob Morgan.
In a review of the film, Shadow and Act‘s Aramide Tinubu wrote, “Superbly acted and impactful, Monsters and Men is a film about having the difficult conversations even when the answers to our questions might not be readily available.”
