Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford return as the Dutton family’s ancestors, Cara and Jacob Dutton, in the second season of Yellowstone spinoff 1923.

The Paramount+ series expands upon the story of the Dutton lineage by telling how everything came to be, starting with Jacob and Cara Dutton making a home for themselves out west. There were many perils the Duttons faced when starting Dutton Ranch in the first season. As the new trailers below show, the second season presents even more trials.

What is ‘1923’ Season 2 going to be about?

According to the series logline:

In the second season of 1923, a cruel winter brings new challenges and unfinished business to Jacob (Ford) and Cara (Mirren) back at Dutton ranch. With harsh conditions and adversaries threatening to end the Dutton legacy, Spencer (Sklenar) embarks on an arduous journey home, racing against time to save his family in Montana. Meanwhile, Alexandra (Schlaepfer) sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love.

Season 1 of ‘1923’ will also air on Paramount Network

To prepare fans for the upcoming season Paramount Network will air 1923′s first season each Sunday starting Dec. 8, immediately following a new episode of Yellowstone.

The series is executive produced by Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan, who is also behind other Paramount hits such as Lawmen: Bass Reeves, starring David Oyelowo as the title character, 1883, Landman, Lioness (starring Zoe Saldana) and Mayor of Kingstown. Other executive producers include David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Ben Richardson, Michael Friedman and Keith Cox.
