The official trailer for Wuthering Heights gives fans some more conventional looks at the new retelling by Emerald Fennell, but will it satisfy purists? That remains to be seen.

When the teaser trailer came out, some fans were hoping that perhaps the film was about a woman who had read Wuthering Heights and was imagining herself in the world of the book. But that hope was because the teaser trailer was so far removed from what they had expected. While this more extended trailer gives more views of the windswept moors of the UK, the film still insists on it being a modern film “inspired by the greatest love story of all time.”

The film’s logline also promotes its “bold and original” retelling of the story, describing Cathy (Margot Robbie) and Heathcliff’s (Jacob Elordi) “forbidden passion for one another turns from romantic to intoxicating in an epic tale of lust, love and madness.”

Who else stars in ‘Wuthering Heights’?

The film also stars Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes and Ewan Mitchell.

Fennell directs from her screenplay based on the book by Emily Brontë. Fennell also serves as producer with Robbie and Josey McNamara. Sara Desmond and Tom Ackerley serve as executive producers. Charli XCX provides original songs for the film.
