Aside from three chart-topping albums with her R&B group Xscape, The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s Kandi Burruss has penned hits for the likes of TLC, Whitney Houston, Destiny’s Child, and Ed Sheran. She’s made a musical comeback by reuniting with Xscape after nearly 20 years of estrangement. Their 2018 U.S. tour produced sold-out shows throughout the country and the group recently performed a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” for the Atlanta Falcons game.
While fans of the group are begging for new music, they are coming with something much greater: a biopic. In an exclusive interview with The Jasmine Brand, Latocha Scott confirms the Xscape biopic is still in the works and has been for some time.
“Well we’ve been in talks you know, all of us, all four girls are ready for this to happen,” she said. “We’re making sure that the people that are getting involved is who we want to be involved with this because when you do a life story that’s it. You can’t go back and change anything, you can’t go erase anything so we just want to make sure it’s done right.”
And the members already have an idea of who they want to star as them. For Scott, she wants Power’s Naturi Naughton.
“Naturi from the show Power – everyone says ‘Oh my gosh, you guys look alike.’ Plus she can sing,” she said. “I talked to her at BET Her when we had to perform that night and she was like ‘I would love to.’ So we’re kind of just making sure the people who we bring in to play us really does the part.”
Tameka “Tiny” Harris is vying for her own daughter, singer and reality star Zonnique, to play her. Scott’s sister, Tameka Scott, wants her niece to star as her. Per Scott, the casting makes perfect sense.
