The Hair Love story continues in a new Max animated series starring Issa Rae, Kid Cudi, Loretta Devine and Tamar Braxton…and the first footage has dropped!

Young Love debuts on Max this fall and expands on Hair Love, the Oscar-winning animated short created and directed by Matthew A. Cherry. The series revolves around Zuri Young, the girl from the Hair Love short, and her relationship with her father, who has to do something a lot of fathers are scared to do–doing his daughter’s hair.

“Filled with comedy and heart, the all-new Max Original animated series Young Love is an honest look into the world of the Young family–including millennial parents Stephen and Angela, their daughter Zuri and her pet cat Rocky–as they juggle their careers, marriage, parenthood, social issues and multi-generational dynamics, all while striving to make a better life for themselves.”

The series stars the voices of Kid Cudi (aka Scott Mescudi), Issa Rae, Brooke Monroe Conaway, Loretta Devine, Harry Lennix and Tamar Braxton. Cherry serves as creator and executive producer. Blue Key Entertainment’s Monica Young also executive produces with Carl Jones, Karen Toliver, and Lion Forge Animation’s Carl Reed and David Steward II. The series is produced in partnership with Sony Pictures Animation.
