Black girl affirmation is so important, especially in a society that constantly highlights negative images of black femmes. Programs like the Black Girl Festival are fighting to counteract that with celebration and affirmation, however.
One lovely day, Twitter user Eva Sativa decided to walk around Spelman College's campus and simply tell several black girls that they were beautiful asking each of them, "Do you know you're beautiful?"
According to Bustle, the feel-good video went viral!

She was met with mostly blushing and thanks. It was so heartwarming to see her words affect those young women who didn't believe they were beautiful. Since the system is designed to tear down black girls/women, it was especially dope to see some of the girls fully affirm that they were, in fact beautiful, before extending their gratitude.
Message to brooke (girl who said no) you are a beautiful and strong black woman. You better start believing it because it's true. Stay blessed.— iamKAM (@KameronWillis) November 8, 2017
I loved the girls who said “Yes I know and thank you.”— Alyce Miller (@AlyceLMiller) November 8, 2017
That's right, sis! As Eva said, "affirm that sh*t!"
As you could tell by their glowing faces, Eva really made their day. Shout-out to you, Eva. YOU are also beautiful, in more ways than one.
