RBC Film Group (a division of RBC Records) will release DVD release writer/director Noel Calloway’s award-winning, real-life inspired indie drama of a fatherless son, Life, Love, Soul, on August 27, 2013, and available on In Demand and all other digital outlets, including iTunes.
The film has also been tapped as the opener for the first annual Fatherhood Image Film Festival on August 8 at 8 p.m. at the MIST Harlem Theatre, located at 46 W. 116th Street in Harlem, New York. The four-day festival aims to gauge and affect the state of the fatherhood image in media.
Life, Love, Soul tells the story of a young man estranged from his father, who he’s forced to re-connect with, when tragedy strikes home. The film touches on feelings of abandonment, resentment, and loss.
Synopsis reads:
“Life, Love, Soul” tells the gripping story of a talented young man’s struggle to regain control of his life after a devastating loss. As seventeen-year-old honor student Roosevelt Jackson(Robbie Tate-Brickle) copes with the sudden death of his mother (Tami Roman, “Basketball Wives”), he is forced to reconnect with an estranged father who’s been absent for most of his life. Although Earl Grant (Chad Coleman, “The Walking Dead” and “The Wire”) attempts to make amends for past mistakes, new problems feed the tumultuous father-son relationship. With the help of strong mentors in Roosevelt’s life, like Tiffany (Terri J Vaughn, “Meet The Browns”) and his teacher, Mr. Roundtree (Jamie Hector, “The Wire”), Roosevelt starts to piece his life back together on his journey to manhood.
At a time when the plight of young, black men is the subject of many-a conversation in the USA, Life, Love, Soul seeks to contribute to these conversations with an ensemble cast, including Chad Coleman, Jamie Hector, Terri J Vaughn, Tami Roman, and Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Valerie Simpson (of musical duo Ashford & Simpson) in her acting debut and newcomer Robbie Tate-Brickle.
Winner of the Audience Award at the 2011 Urban World Film Festival, Life, Love, Soul is a poignant and insightful drama that attempts to get to the heart of father-son relationships.
Benny Pough and Allen West serve as the executive producers on the film along with producers Noel Calloway, Dedra N. Tate, Yandy Smith and Devon O Reagan.
