Sexual assault allegations against R. Kelly are not new. However, public outcry against the musician has grown in recent months following this year's March for Black Women. Since then, more allegations of misconduct have surfaced, including a 14-year-old accusing the singer of forcing her to be his "sex pet" and a woman claiming he gave her an STD when she was part of his "sex cult."
The #MuteRKelly movement went full steam after the #TimesUp movement officially acknowledged its support of the campaign and Kelly's alleged victims. Spotify announced a removal of the singer's catalog from its playlists in early May.
According to TMZ, a woman named Faith Rodgers filed a lawsuit against Kelly for false imprisonment and sexual battery this Monday.
Kelly appears unbothered by all the controversy and spoke out about it via Facebook.
The R&B singer and self-proclaimed "Pied Piper" was recorded ranting about the #MuteRKelly pursuit on Facebook Live, according to The Fader.
So, remember that I told you about that random Antoine Walker FB Live video with R. Kelly last night? Well, here is partially slurring Kels proposing a toast declaring “it’s too late” to #MuteRKelly pic.twitter.com/a45z7EDis2— Exavier Pope (@exavierpope) May 18, 2018
“I got a million motherf*ckers hatin’ me, or 40 billion motherf*ckers lovin’ me, you know what I’m sayin’? And I’mma tell you somethin’,” Kelly says. “I’mma take this musical sh*t, and I’mma inject these motherf*ckers with this musical, beautiful sh*t."
Well.
Defiant, Kelly continues, "It's too late. They should have did this sh*t 30 years ago. The music has been injected into the world. … I got a basketball mentality. As long as I got the ball, the world is on defense."
Despite this declaration, Kelly will be the defendant in the Rodgers case.
