We first profiled film Pastor Brown back in 2009 and now, based on an interview actor Rockmond Dunbar recently had with Collider, the faith-based film will receive distribution under Arc Entertainment and will be released next year.
Dunbar, who also directed the flick, states…"I directed a film called Pastor Brown, three years ago. We got 18 offers for distribution, three of which were international, and we finally settled on ARC Entertainment. They’re going to do distribution for the movie, so it will have a theatrical release, thank God. It looks like that will come out somewhere around Easter of next year."
The film stars Salli Richardson as Jessica "Jesse" Brown, an exotic dancer who returns home for the first time in more than a decade when her father becomes ill and is asked to become the new Pastor of his church.
Co-stars include Keith David, Nicole Ari Parker, Ernie Hudson, Michael B. Jordan, Tasha Smith, Tisha Campbell, Angie Stone and Monica.
The producers of the film, which has had several false starts regarding release dates, apparently had issues that needed to be resolved.
The screenwriter, Rhonda Baraka (Trinity Goodheart), told Blackfilm she's often asked about the project. "It’s a question that is constantly asked, 'Whatever happened to ‘Pastor Brown’?',” she said. "As a writer who wants to move on that’s one thing that’s hanging over my head." Not any longer Ms. Baraka!
