In memory of Moses J. Moseley, who passed away earlier this year, his family has started a scholarship to help people get through college.

TMZ announced the news earlier today, and it’s set to help three high school seniors or college undergrads by putting $1,000 toward tuition. It launched on a scholarship site called Bold.org.

Teera Kimbro, Moseley’s sister, revealed that the initiative would be dubbed the MJM3 Fitness Scholarship. The “MJM” comes from the actor’s initials, and the “3” comes from him being his parents’ third child.

She also revealed that the idea came to fruition after reading through Moseley’s journal after his passing. While going through his writings, she learned that he came across a list of goals he had for the year. Specifically, these goals were to buy a condo, visit Germany, create a cartoon show, start a fitness shirt brand, and create a scholarship.

Moseley’s idea to create a scholarship came about during his days as an undergrad.

According to Kimbro, the actor conducted a survey in college that was centered on uncovering whether debt caused depression among university students. He wanted to start a scholarship to help ease some of the student debt burdens on young Americans.

Moseley was found dead in Stockton, Georgia, in late January. While his death was initially investigated as a suicide, authorities could not officially confirm this. There’s also widespread speculation that unknown assailants kidnapped and killed the 31-year-old.

Moseley is most well-known for his role in The Walking Dead between 2012 and 2015. He also had minor, one-off roles on shows like Queen of the South, American Soul, and Watchmen. Additionally, it’s worth noting that Moseley got his very first role after being scouted by Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton at Georgia State University.
