An emotional father in Florida was arrested after allegedly making death threats with a gun at a middle school.

The Sun-Sentinel reports 27-year-old father Christopher Freeman was apprehended by the Palm Beach County School District police on Monday at Bear Lakes Middle School.

Freeman was reportedly visibly perturbed following a FaceTime conversation with his son, a student at the school, an hour before his arrest. His son called him at approximately 3 p.m., crying, claiming a teacher had slammed him. As the father attempted to get more information from the boy, Freeman claims an adult aggressively pulled his son. The phone fell out of his son's hands, and the call ended.

According to the police report obtained by WPTV, Freeman received a call from the school's assistant principal earlier in the day about an undisclosed discipline issue. Freeman reportedly told the school official, "If this isn't my son, you're all dead."

An arrest report states Freeman arrived at the school around 4 p.m. He was stopped by a school resource officer who said the father had a gun protruding from his pants pocket.

After being stopped, Freeman allegedly said, "I want to see the guy who slammed my son. I've got something for him."

The West Palm Beach school was placed on a code red lockdown shortly after, and Freeman was asked to step outside. Police say the father was searched by a group of backup police officers who found an AK-47 Mini Draco pistol as well as an extended 30-round magazine.

Freeman told the officers that although he was upset over the incident with his son, he had unintentionally brought the gun to campus. He said he bought it for protection a year ago, and he keeps it on his person at all times.

The father claims it was not his intention to threaten anyone with the weapon, and he had no plans to shoot anyone.

Freeman was arrested and is facing several charges, including possession of a weapon on school property, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill and disrupting a school function. On Tuesday, his bond was set at $75,000.

Should Freeman post bond, he will be barred from carrying any weapon. Additionally, he will be on mandatory house arrest, restricted from contacting any of the witnesses and banned from going within 500 feet of any school in Palm Beach County.
