Homecoming season is still underway at schools across the country. Like every year, some of the proposals, outfits and games tied to the event abound on social media. Such is the case of a father’s reaction to his daughter being asked to homecoming last week.
The video, which was posted on TikTok, has been viewed over 3 million times so far. In it, we see a high schooler ask one of his peers to homecoming in their school’s gym. He hands her pink roses and a proposal sign before sharing a hug. Behind them is standing the girl’s father, and social media users immediately noted his deadpan face during the proposal.

After the video went viral, the creator thanked everyone for their love and reactions.
“This is our first kid’s homecoming; we were all nervous,” they said, revealing that she is the girl’s mother. “He did talk to dad before asking, but this is dad being a dad.”
In the same comment section, she noted that the father was happy but didn’t show it.
“Dad’s expressions didn’t change,” she said about photographs the couple took with the father later on. “He was smiling on the inside.”

In a third video, the mother showed what was written on the sign.
“Every frog needs a princess. Will you be mine at homecoming,” it read.
The mother added that her daughter’s favorite movie is the 2009 Disney movie The Princess and the Frog.
