Rapper Chopper, who appeared on MTV’s Making the Band, has been extradited to Las Vegas on sex trafficking charges, Essence reports. The rapper, whose legal name is Kevin Barnes, was arrested earlier in April in Maryland, as authorities believe he was operating as a pimp.

According to TMZ, legal documents state that an undercover vice detective in Nevada posing as a sex worker received a direct message from Barnes on Instagram. Nevada state police say the rapper propositioned the detective, saying he could make them money through prostitution, which launched a formal investigation.

The undercover cop said authorities then searched the rapper’s Instagram account and found several posts related to pimping, Essence reports. Barnes is accused of referencing being a pimp in posts, including one image that showed the rapper inside a plane with a phone, writing, “Sendin em,” along with emoji of a money bag and a crown.

While on the phone with the undercover officer, Barnes allegedly bragged about his jet-setting lifestyle, telling them about his seven homes around the country, including one in Las Vegas. He also said that Vegas was not a safe place to conduct his businesses because law enforcement is cracking down on sex trafficking in the area.

The undercover officer also accused the rapper of conducting an interview with them on the phone, TMZ reports. After passing a test, Barnes said he would make them a part of his “team” and “stable.”

The undercover officer then said that Chopper began to speak aggressively over the phone and ordered them to pack their bags and meet him in Charlotte, North Carolina.

According to Essence, Nevada state police say that the rapper’s social media posts, direct messages and phone conversations with the undercover officer are enough to arrest and charge Barnes with felony sex trafficking.
