Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis delivered a stern warning to rappers who boast about committing crimes in their rap songs. Willis relayed her message at a press conference on Monday, saying “get out of my county” if you plan to brag about wrongdoings.

“You do not get to commit crimes in my county and then decide to brag on it, which you do that for a form of intimidation and to further the gang, and not be held responsible,” the district attorney said at the press conference. “I have some legal advice: Don’t confess to crimes in rap lyrics if you do not want them used. Or at least get out of my county.”

The rigid statement came as Willis announced that her office had indicted 26 alleged members of “Drug Rich Gang” on RICO charges. According to reports, the gang is targeting Atlanta’s celebrities and influencers. Some of their victims include Real Housewives of Atlanta star Marlo Hampton, social media star and mother of Future’s son, Brittni Mealy, Atlanta United goalkeeper Brad Guzan and Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley.

“Striking in all black, send me the drop, we’ll kick in the house. If we steal a car, we’re gonna take off the tag,” Willis said, referencing some lyrics which were recently used in an indictment.

Her message has sparked a debate on social media, with some people saying Willis is right for cracking down on rap songs and others disagreeing.

Willis aims to continue cracking down on gang-related activity in Atlanta. “If you thought Fulton was a good county to bring your crime to, to bring your violence to, you are wrong and you are going to suffer consequences,” she said, according to 11 Alive. “And today is the start of some of those consequences.”

The district attorney’s office said the incidents of recent weeks include kidnapping, robbing, shootings and home invasions.

“We are going to find you. We are going to convict you. And we’re going to send you to the prison for the rest of your days, and I’m not apologizing for that,” Willis said.
