This poster reflects the film’s retro style and color palette as well as the juxtaposition of innocence and adulthood that takes place all throughout the film. It evokes the feeling from an era that was a significant influence on the film too. It has that late ’60s and ’70s feeling to it. Some of the influences in this film certainly come from that time.

Words from the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Precious, Geoffrey Fletcher, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, talking about the design of the newly-released poster for his feature film directorial debut Violet & Daisy. – a film we’ve been following since it made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in the fall of 2011. So it’s been a little while.

Last November, Cinedigm Entertainment acquired North American distribution rights to the film, although, at the time, an exact release date wasn’t provided.

In the EW interview, it’s stated that the movie will be released in June, without a day. The poster below does say it’ll be released in the summer.

Cinedigm will also release the film on-demand, digital and DVD platforms. 

The cast includes Saoirse Ronan, Alexis Bledel, James Gandolfini, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Danny Trejo in what has been described as a “Thelma and Louise meets Superbad meets Pulp Fiction” story.

Ronan and Bledel play a pair of teenage assassins lured into what is supposed to be just another quick and easy job, only to find complications as the man they’re supposed to kill is not who they expected.

With the poster debut, I suspect a trailer will follow soon enough.

As for upcoming projects, Fletcher is working on a script about the Attica prison uprising in 1971, which Doug Liman is directing.
