A Ghanaian woman, identified as GG, was traveling on a United Airlines flight from Ghana to Virginia when she went into labor and gave birth to a healthy baby boy during the 11-hour flight.

A passenger named Nancy Adobea Anane noticed that the woman appeared unsettled and was pacing back and forth.

"She was going to and from the bathroom. She looked very distressed, and I thought she was just uncomfortable," Anane told Today.

Another woman recalled being awakened by moans, saying, "I was asleep … I thought I was dreaming when I heard moaning. I got out of my seat, and I saw someone on the ground. A nurse was over her. I thought, 'Oh God, I know she is not about to give birth on this plane.' I was literally counting her contractions — seven to 10 minutes apart. I was, like, freaking out," Tiani Warren said, according to CNN.

Luckily for the soon-to-be mother, a Ghanaian doctor named Dr. Ansah-Addo and a Ghanaian nurse were available to aid her in her time of need.

"It was amazing," Ansah-Addo said."One of them said, 'I see the head.' Then (the) baby came out and was crying, and those of us close were clapping and so happy."

The newborn was delivered two hours before the flight touched down at Washington Dulles International Airport.

United Airlines sent Today an official statement about the happy incident.

"Our crew was amazing," the airline said in a statement. "They acted quickly, assisted the medical professionals onboard, and ensured everyone stayed safe throughout the flight. And we were especially thrilled to see the plane land with one extra, especially beautiful, customer onboard."

Anane, a Ghanian media personality who works for GHOne TV, posted a video of the glowing mother tending to her child on her Facebook page.

"On board @united Flight UA 977 today, a lovely baby boy was born. The baby Who was due late February decided to arrive 34,000 ft above [sea] level," she wrote on her Facebook post.
