Of note on the second annual Critics Choice Television Awards nominees list, announced earlier this month, were some familiar faces like: Regina King (Southland, though in the supporting actress category, not lead actress, as several of you have been calling for), Idris Elba (lead actor movie or miniseries, Luther), Giancarlo Esposito (supporting actor drama, Breaking Bad), Loretta Devine (guest performer, Grey’s Anatomy), Don Cheadle (lead actor comedy, House of Lies), Damon Wayans Jr. (supporting actor comedy, Happy Endings), Nick Cannon (host reality TV, America’s Got Talent), and RuPaul (host reality TV, RuPaul’s Drag Race).

So *we* had got some representation, especially in major categories. Luther also picked up a nomination for best movie/miniseries; so that's 2 for our man Idris to be happy about.

Fast forward to last night, when the second annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards ceremony was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel… and of those mentioned above, only 1 walked away with a win – Giancarlo Esposito in the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category for his acclaimed work in Breaking Bad.

Regina King lost to Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Idris Elba lost to Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), Loretta Devin lost to Lucy Liu (Southland), Don Cheadle lost to Louis C.K. (Louie), Damon Wayans Jr. lost to Ty Burrell (Modern Family), both Nick Cannon and RuPaul lost to Tom Bergeron (Dancing with the Stars) and Cat Deeley (So You Think You Can Dance) in a tie, and finally, Luther lost to Sherlock.
