Alex NewellFormer "Glee" star Alex Newell has landed himself the title role in a new NBC comedy pilot titled "Imaginary Friend," alongside Megan Neuringer who plays an intelligent but unmotivated woman, who discovers a special and unexpected way of dealing with her mediocre life.

I assume that discovery is the creation of an imaginary friend, hence the series’ title, which Newell will play.

The series has been penned by actress and writer Kassia Miller and came through the NBC Playground comedy initiative.

Newell is most known for his role in "Glee," where he played Wade ‘Unique’ Adams, a transgender student and member of the New Directions.

"Imaginary Friend" is expected to air next year.
