Gunna recreates a historical moment in American history with the release of his new video “rodeo dr,” replicating O.J. Simpson’s infamous Ford Bronco car chase with remarkable precision.

The Spike Jordan-directed video shows fans and reporters following the Atlanta artist as he flees in the backseat of a white Ford Bronco amid scenes of him rapping on the famous Los Angeles street.

From men contemplating whether they’re in Gunna’s corner to women vying for his attention, the video’s imagery mirrors the real-life drama the rapper’s dealt with since being accused of snitching on Young Thug in 2022 during the ongoing YSL RICO case.

Gunna was sentenced to five years with one year served due to his time behind bars after being arrested in May of last year as part of the vast-ranging indictment against YSL, which prosecutors allege to be a criminal enterprise.

In December, Gunna pleaded guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge and accepted a plea deal, releasing him from prison.

“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,” Gunna said after his release.

“My focus of YSL was entertainment – rap artists who wrote and performed music that exaggerated and ‘glorified’ urban life in the Black community,” he added.

Like the YSL artist, O.J. Simpson was in the heat of controversy in 1995 after being accused of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman. Instead of turning himself in after Los Angeles Police charged him with murder, Simpson and his friend Al Cowlings led police on a low-speed chase in a white Bronco. According to The New York Times, 95 million people watched the televised chase.

A jury acquitted the Hall of Famer with the help of a phenomenal legal team that included the legendary Johnnie Cochran and Kris Jenner’s late husband, Robert Kardashian.
