After much anticipation, Halle Bailey announced her debut solo single is on the way. “Angel” will be released on Friday. It comes as she previously revealed she would issue an album.

The 23-year-old posted a teaser for the single on social media on Monday. The video features footage from her childhood and highlights from her career. We see a young Bailey unwrapping a guitar and photographs of her as a toddler. The song’s title is repeated several times throughout the video.

“Angels make a way somehow” is written as a conclusion to the teaser.

The release will mark her debut as a solo act. She previously created music and performed with her sister Chloe Bailey, with whom she formed the Grammy-nominated duo Chloe x Halle. Their single “Do It” hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart and peaked at 63.

Chlöe previously launched her solo career with hit singles such as “Have Mercy” and “How Does It Feel,” featuring Chris Brown. She also released her debut album, In Pieces, earlier this year.

She delivered renditions of the film’s classics, such as “Part of Your World,” and new songs, including “For the First Time.” The 23-year-old will also star in a remake of The Color Purple later this year.

Halle revealed in the May issue of British Vogue that she has been working on her debut album. She cited jazz and grunge as influences for the upcoming project.

“Angel” is now available to pre-add or pre-save on Apple Music and Spotify.
