Broadway’s hit musical Hamilton made a historic groove offstage with a record-breaking 16 Tony Award nominations.
The record was previously held by The Producers and Billy Elliot with 15 nominations each. Of the 16 nominations, Hamilton is up for “Best Musical”, “Best Original Score”, and “Best Direction of a Musical”. A majority of the nominations are for the diverse cast which is comprised of actors from only African-American and Latino descent.
And big name fans of the hip-hop influence show couldn’t be more excited about the news.

The Pulitzer Prize winning show burst onto the scene just over a year ago led by Lin-Manuel Miranda with sellout shows and predicted to top just over $100 million in ticket sales. With the overwhelming response from audiences, tickets are being sold on a limited basis.
The Tony awards will air on June 12th, in the meantime view the complete list of nominations here.
Hamilton is so good, there’s no doubt that it will clean house at the Tonys.
