Sean “Diddy” Combs was reportedly placed in solitary confinement after getting into a fight with another inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey.
What caused the brawl between Diddy and another inmate?
The altercation reportedly began after another inmate allegedly insulted Combs. The two inmates reportedly shoved each other and exchanged punches before prison staff intervened and broke up the fight, multiple unnamed sources told TMZ, People and NBC News.
The outlets also reported that Combs was immediately taken to solitary confinement, commonly referred to as “the hole.” It remains unclear whether Combs is still being held in solitary confinement or whether the reported incident could result in additional disciplinary action.
His current projected release date is February 2028, after it was moved up from April 2028, though it is unclear whether the altercation could affect that timeline.
Fort Dix reportedly has no information about the fight, spokesperson says
Officials have not publicly confirmed details of the reported fight. According to TMZ, a spokesperson for FCI Fort Dix said the facility does not disclose internal information about inmates.
“We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody. Such information would not be available for the public domain,” the spokesperson said.
Combs, 56, is serving his sentence at the low-security federal prison after a jury convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution following his 2025 federal trial, Blavity reported.
He was acquitted in July 2025 of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. Combs is serving a 50-month sentence and has received credit for the time he spent in custody before his conviction. Blavity previously reported that the disgraced music mogul’s projected release date was moved up to February 2028.
