For this NFL season, Texas Southern University (TSU) graduate and Hibachi Bros Food Truck owner, Dempsey Robinson, has a dope and non-traditional way to combine football and food.  A food truck that serves Japanese-style hibachi sounds pretty lit, and the fact that it’s a Black-owned business is all the more reason to consider this a flavorful win.

Robinson, 25, is a former football player and Texas Southern University alum who had a desire to run his own hibachi food truck with flavors the community would love.  Now, he’s living his dream as Houston’s first Black-owned business owner of its kind.

Originally hailing from Los Angeles, California, Robinson attended TSU on a football scholarship and started the Hibachi Bros Food Truck business in Houston’s Third Ward with his friend and business partner, Philip Taylor, right after graduation in May 2021.

For NFL fans this season, Robinson has decided to offer some pretty cool specials, like Buy 4 Entrées – Get 1 FREE or Buy 3 Entrées and get a FREE signature grilled Hibachi Burrito (BRO-RITO), every Sunday, starting October 9, 2022, at the Hibachi Bros Food Truck (4501 Almeda Road).

Along with the new promotional sales, Robinson and Taylor have also opened a second Hibachi Bros Food Truck which is entirely for onsite catering to private parties, events, and tailgating.  The latest catering truck also offers a variety of convenient options such as the “Big Bro” package which includes grilled hibachi proteins such as chicken, shrimp, lobster, and filet mignon, with fried rice, grilled vegetables, and a choice of five signature sauces, created from scratch daily.  There’s also a smaller option called the “Little Bro” package with protein options that include chicken, shrimp, and New York Steak, with additional add-on options for salmon, lobster tail, and Hibachi Bros’ signature Samurai Juice beverages.

Who would have thought that hibachi and football could go so well together? It does sound like the ideal combination, and we concur with Robinson, who said, “Hibachi and football are the perfect combo, when it comes to game day, you have to do it right.  Would you rather have steak and shrimp, grilled to perfection, or burgers and dogs?”

Shoot, we’ll take the hibachi, please!
