House Party has a new release date and per Warner Bros. Discovery’s new plans, it will now come to theaters instead of HBO Max.
According to Deadline, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is moving to Dec. 25, 2023, months past its initial release date of March 17, 2023. The reason is supposedly because of the film needing more post-production time. This also shifts the rest of the DCEU slate, with Shazam: Fury of the Gods moving to that now-empty March 17 date. Shazam will now be able to utilize Imax screens, which Deadline writes could help the DCEU film compete against 20th and Disney’s Avatar: The Way of Water.
Other Warner Bros. Discovery films are also moving around the calendar.
LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s upcoming House Party reboot will move from HBO Max to theaters with a Dec. 9 release date this year. Evil Dead Rise will open April 21, 2023. Lastly, horror films The Nun 2 and Salem’s Lot will come to theaters. The Nun sequel will arrive Sept. 8, 2023, and Salem’s Lot at a new, unscheduled date in 2023.
There is also set to be a surprise movie coming out around Super Bowl 2023.
Warner Bros. Discovery has sectioned off Feb. 10 of that year for a currently “untitled event film,” according to Deadline. Guesses are out as to what that film could be, but it’s clear Warner Bros. Discovery believes the film will be able to take advantage of the entertainment-packed weekend.
