Houston’s favorite hottie, Megan Thee Stallion, was bestowed the key to the city by Mayor Sylvester Turner and the Houston City Council on Sunday, according to HipHopDX.

Officials also declared May 2 as Megan Thee Stallion Day to recognize her philanthropic contributions, including the Pete & Thomas Foundation launched in February, according to People.

The day is hugely significant to Megan, as it is her mother and grandmother’s birthday.

Megan founded her nonprofit in honor of her late mother and father. The organization develops programs focused on education, housing, health and wellness in Houston and nationwide, NME reports.

“Megan Thee Stallion has an extraordinary entertainment career, but we wanted to honor her for what she does offstage to lift people’s lives in underserved communities,” Turner said, HipHopDX reports.

Megan gave a tearful speech and spoke about the effect her mother and grandmother, who both passed away in March 2019, had on her life and career.

“Both of these women helped me grow into the woman that I am today,” the “Last Week in HTx” rapper said, according to HipHopDX. “I don’t know what kind of lady I would be if granny didn’t raise me to be so kind and so giving. You could walk by these ladies’ house and they givin’ out dollars, candy — whatever they’ve got, they’re givin’ it out the door.”

“And I always wanted to be just like that. I wanted to be nice like them. They made me feel so beautiful and so loved, and they made everybody they met feel just like that. So I was like, ‘When I grow up, I wanna be just like them,'” she added, according to a clip posted to YouTube.

After the ceremony, Megan posted photos from the event, captioning them “continue to give back to the city that made me who I am today💙 #htown
