We are always here for giving back!

Recently, we reported Oprah and Beyoncé joining forces to raise funds for Hurricane Harvey with a CBS telethon. As always, every little bit helps. Whether it’s donating money, providing shelter and food or simply bringing much-needed joy to the many evacuees displaced from their homes, the efforts of the Harvey volunteers have had a huge impact.

NBA legend, Hall of Fame inductee and ex-Houston Rockets player Tracy McGrady, and his wife CleRenda (a Project P.U.S.H. life coach), decided to open their hearts by hosting a free Labor Day barbecue for a great number of people affected by flooding in Houston's Third Ward and Sunnyside neighborhoods, the Washington Post reports.

Tracy was definitely excited about the outpouring of support he saw in his city, and wanted to contribute his part. He went to Facebook to post the flyer for the Labor Day BBQ, treating families to a meal consisting of “smoked turkey, brisket, chicken, sausage, jambalaya, potato salad, baked beans and pecan pie.”

Wow!

“We wanted to be able to give back,” CleRenda told the Houston Chronicle.

The couple hosted their barbecue at Houston's Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and managed to feed 800 people.

"We wanted to help people transition back to normality as much as possible. We wanted to give them an extra boost of encouragement and hope," CleRenda said.

Additionally, the McGradys encouraged people to donate cleaning supplies and personal care items. Lilly Grove M.B. Church speaker and mentor, Kachelle Kelly, provided some encouraging words to the crowd, and posted a pic of the BBQ event via her Instagram:

“There are a lot of Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. What was important to us was to serve an area that already needed an extra boost,” CleRenda added. “That’s why we decided to come to this particular area: to show them some extra love. Labor Day is all about barbecue, so we wanted to bring the barbecue to them.”

“The biggest thing is to get people away from the devastation to bring some happiness, some joyous times and some laughter," Tracy said, "We all need that."

We love it! Shoutout to the McGradys for bringing joy to the Harvey flood victims!
