Hosted by CBS news anchor Norah O'Donnell, proceeds from the program will go to several vetted charities, among them the United Way of Greater Houston and The Mayor's Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief (administered by the Greater Houston Community Fund).
After touching down on the coast of Texas and Louisiana, the storm left massive devastation in its wake with a death toll of at least 60, and storm damage expected to cost as much as $100 billion. As donations and prayers continue to pour in from around the country, celebrities like Drake, Solange, and Kevin Hart have pledged assistance while challenging others to do the same. Tuesday's televised benefit continues this trend, with celebrity appearances by George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Texas native country music star George Strait, and more. With mounting damages and trauma, Texas and Louisiana will need support for many years to come.
