Two students had the internet fooled into thinking they were expecting a baby through a senior viral prank.

The video, uploaded initially to TikTok over the weekend, shows the young couple having a gender reveal party amongst their classmates in the school cafeteria. Viewers can see students turning up and celebrating as the expecting couple opened up gifts. Towards the very end of the video, the couple opens up a box containing a blue balloon, signaling that they are having a baby boy.

The upload soon began circulating, with blogs like The Neighborhood Talk and Rap Alert first posting.

Shortly after the video began gaining serious traction, the couple shared a follow-up TikTok freshly uploaded today, announcing that the whole celebration was a prank.

“Hey guys, we’re the viral couple from Instagram at the baby shower. We just wanted to let you guys know that it was a prank,” the young man began. “It’s nothing serious, and we’re actually not pregnant.”

“Yeah, I’m actually not pregnant,” the young woman confirmed as she turned sideways. “Flat belly. So, just wanted to let you guys know that it wasn’t real.”

While the matter was for the couple’s senior prank, it conveniently coincided with April Fools’ Day. These teens weren’t the only ones to recently go viral with a faux pregnancy announcement.

As Blavity previously reported, Keke Palmer issued a now-deleted tweet on April 1, sharing that she was expecting a baby.

“I’ve officially joined the summer MOM club,” the actress wrote alongside a photo of her seemingly showing off a baby bump. Shortly after that, Palmer revealed that she was joking, and Twitter slammed her as being insensitive. She proceeded to delete the post outright.
