Few things are worse than delays at a fast food joint. Whether it’s a broken ice cream machine (we’re looking at you McDonald’s) or a staff shortage, when you’re craving a not-so-healthy snack, it’s frustrating.
One customer decided enough is enough.
While waiting for the Louisiana fried chicken and sides at Popeyes, the hungry patron jumped out of their car and interviewed for a job at the understaffed location, Indy 100 reports.
The exchange was captured in a viral TikTok video. User @thoroughbred_84 filmed the moment while she and her partner attempted to get something to eat at a Popeyes drive-thru. They were told the location was “short-staffed” and there was an hour-long wait time to get their chicken.
The TikToker’s partner, who was standing outside of the car, swore the location opened at 10 a.m. When they asked, the staffer informed them that’s not the case.
“Ma’am, we’re short-staffed, so we don’t open until 11 a.m.,” they said in the clip.
The TikToker’s partner wasn’t having it and decided to apply for a job at the location to help them keep it moving forward.
“Can I have a job then? Because I’m hungry,” the famished customer shared, adding later that she attempted to apply for the position on Popeyes website, but she kept getting a “service error” message.
The staffer then instructed the TikToker’s partner to “come to the window.”
“You wanna interview me now?” the partner asked.
“Yup,” the staffer responded.
The partner then beelined to the next window, while the TikToker chuckled in the car.
“Look at this fool,” the TikTok user said as she pulled around to the next window. The video ends with a look at the partner in the middle of their interview with the staffer.

Viewers loved the partner’s response to the service delay.
“Be a part of the solution lol not the problem,” one viewer commented.
“I feel this lol,” another added.
One user pointed out that the staffer’s responses prove how much they need the extra set of hands.
“The ‘yup’ … they need you,” the user wrote.
No word on whether they got the job, though many viewers are hoping for an update.
