What do you do if your partner feeds you a bite of their cooking and it’s not good? One man decided to choose peace over chaos when his wife gave him a spoonful of funky food. Little did he know, she was playing a viral TikTok prank on him.
In the video, we hear the wife tell her husband that she’s trying out a new chili recipe and she wants to get his take on it. The audience sees that she’s actually playing the salt spoon prank on him.
If you’re unfamiliar, the salt spoon prank has partners give their significant other a spoon full of their food with a ton of salt. After tasting, they ask their partners if they like it.

After taking a bite, you see it all over the husband’s face. He puts on his best poker face while he digests the salt with a touch of chili as his wife tells him it’s basically the same recipe, just a little “different.”
Later, he suggests she adds more “meat and sauce” to the chili.
The husband makes a face and takes a quick sip of his drink before the wife turns to their son and asks if he wants a bite. He nods, unaware of what he just got himself into.
After his mom asks what he thinks, the son looks at his dad for advice. They quietly have an exchange many fathers and sons know well, and he doesn’t say anything.
The video blew up on TikTok and later made it’s way to Twitter. Viewers on the latter thought the interaction between the husband and the son was classic.
“This moment tho,” one user wrote, with a screen grab of the son and husband looking at each other.

But not everyone had playful feelings about the viral clip. Some viewers were upset by the prank.
“I always hate watching this because of the ‘it looks like you’re enjoying yourself.’ Gaslighting that poor child. She knows it ain’t good. She KNOWS. And she just keeps recording and laughing along. I feel like parents like this don’t like their kids,” one user shared.

Another expressed they feel the prank is tone-deaf within the Black community.
“In a world where black men are dying of strokes caused by high blood pressure this is…. Interesting,” they wrote.
