Hit veteran music video director Hype Williams has signed on to direct a “sexual thriller” titled Lust, based on a script by Basic Instinct and Showgirls screenwriter, Joe Eszterhas.

The last time Williams directed a feature film was Belly back in 1998 wasn’t it? A film that I thought excelled in its stylized production design and cinematography, but I didn’t care for the plot.

So what can we expect this time around in this collab with Joe Eszterhas?

Lust is said to center on “a 30-year-old man married to an older Miami-based magazine publisher. The publisher is seduced by a younger, charming playboy — who secretly videotapes himself and his new lover having sex, leading to the woman’s life unraveling.

The producers are calling it “Fatal Attraction in reverse.” It will also include a “major music piece

Eszterhas’ last script to be produced was in 2006… something called Children Of Glory, which I’m not immediately familiar with. Regardless, based on his body of work, I’d be lying if I said that I was all giddy about Lust; at the very least, with Hype at the helm, I’m sure it’ll look interesting.

Budgeted at $28 million, with financing already in place, casting is underway, with principal photography scheduled to begin on November 1.
