After releasing her debut EP, Like..?, Ice Spice returned to the spotlight on Saturday with the music video for her most recent single, “In Ha Mood.” The Bronx rapper has a line on her song that some people have interpreted as a shot at Chance the Rapper.
“He a rapper, but don’t got a chance,” Ice Spice rapped on the song.
Over the weekend, Chance took to Instagram to inquire whether or not Ice Spice was aiming a stray shot in his direction.
“Is this a diss or a shoutout?” Chance asked on his Instagram Story.

Ice Spice responded to his remarks on Instagram, ensuring the Chicago rapper that the bar was unrelated to him, VIBE reports.
“Never,” she humorously said with a crying-laughing emoji.
Chance replied, suggesting that was all he was, “Just double checking, lol.”

The new video follows the release of her debut EP Like..?, earlier this month. The EP featured six bangers, including “Munch (Feelin’ U)” and “Bikini Bottom.” So far, the project has received mixed reviews but generally positive ones.
The upcoming months should see the release of the groundbreaking afro-Latina rapper’s debut studio album.
“Most likely this year, since I’m going to have 10 songs, something like that or whatever,” she said during a recent interview with Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning. “[It’s] definitely going to be different vibes in there, for sure. I don’t want to talk too much on it because you feel me? But got to keep the secret sauce a secret.”
She also spoke candidly with Ebro on Apple Music 1 about her personal life, creative process and other topics. Ice Spice said she chose Lil Tjay as the sole guest on the six-song EP because she wanted to work with him on a “real genuine collab” and because the two have known each other for a year and share a connection to the Bronx, as noted by Complex.
Regarding the song’s title, which is also the name of the recently deceased hip-hop legend, Ice Spice asserted to have written it just before the untimely death of the Three 6 Mafia first lady.
“Right before, actually. So, yeah. That was real sad, very exact coincidence,” she said.
When questioned about her dating life, the 23-year-old admitted that she didn’t even have time for herself, much less a boo-thang.
“I just want to play … I be even having to struggle to find time for myself, really, so how I’m going to find time for somebody else? Even for family and friends and myself, I’m still like that little bit of time that I be having on the side is for them and me. N***as come last,” Spice said.
Despite her expectations that her father might object to the project’s sexually suggestive cover, Ice Spice is aware that her parents are proud of her career. While the EP cover is a drawing, she implied that her father would still want to know why she didn’t pose differently. Her mother, on the other hand, is a “baddie herself” and thus more lenient and accepting.

Recently, the 23-year-old rising star secured a fashion campaign with Adidas and Beyoncé’s Ivy Park line. It should not be a shock that Beyoncé would want to collaborate with Spice given the rapper’s recent rise to fame, Teen Vogue reports.
