The 2022 Grammys, which aired live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, included some emotional moments, blunders and surprises. The show featured some of the most popular entertainers in the industry, but also several rising stars.

Here are some of the biggest moments from the Grammys.

Silk Sonic won two Grammys.

Silk Sonic, the R&B duo formed by Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, earned two Grammys for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Leave the Door Open.”

“I want to thank everybody that helped us with album…. Andy I couldn’t be prouder to be doing this with you, man. Thank you so much,” Bruno Mars said while accepting the award, according to People. “You know what? Because of you, me and Andy are gonna be singing this song forever so God bless you all.”

The duo also performed their hit song “777” on stage on Sunday.

Doja Cat got emotional during her acceptance speech.

Doja Cat delivered an emotional speech after winning the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Kiss Me More,” along with SZA.

“I like to downplay s**t,” Doja Cat said on stage while fighting tears. “But this? It’s a big deal.”

The 26-year-old praised all her supporters and raved about SZA.

“Thank you everybody,” she said. “I really appreciate it. Thank you to everybody. My friends, my family, my team. I wouldn’t be here without you and I wouldn’t be here without my fans and you know what SZA you are everything to me. You are incredible. You are the epitome of talent. Be safe, take care.”

According to the New York Post, Doja was rushing back to get her award after going to the bathroom.

“I’ve never taken such a fast piss in my whole life,” the artist told the audience.

Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky spoke at the Grammys.

Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky made a virtual appearance during Sunday’s Grammys. As he spoke to the artists in the room, Zelensky said the musicians in his country have traded their tuxedos for body armor, fighting to protect Ukraine from Russia’s ongoing attack.

“Our musicians wear body armor instead of tuxedos,” he said. “They sing to the wounded. In hospitals.”

Zelensky urged the audience to speak up for Ukraine.

“Tell the truth about war,” he said, according to CNN. “On your social networks. On TV. Support us in any way you can. Any. But not silence.”

The president also relayed his vision for war-torn cities such as “Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Volnovakha, Mariupol and others.”

“I have a dream of them living,” he said. “And free. Free like you on the Grammy stage.”

John Legend followed up Zelensky’s speech with his performance of  “Free” featuring Ukrainian musicians Siuzanna Iglidan and Mika Newton, as well as poet Lyuba Yakimchuk, NPR reports.

The Grammys faced backlash for awarding Louis C.K.

Music fans expressed outrage when disgraced comedian Louis C.K. took the Grammy for Best Comedy Album. Twitter users condemned the Recording Academy and C.K. who admitted to masturbating in front of a group of women without their consent in 2017, according to the New York Post.

“Might be a good time to remind young people that this behavior is NOT okay, no matter who society elevates in the entertainment industry. I feel for the women who came forward about this predator; seeing this guy lauded has got to be re-traumatizing,” Montana politician Reilly Neill wrote on Twitter.

Others said it’s baffling to see the disgraced comedian getting an award while Will Smith is facing more scrutiny for slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.

Olivia Rodrigo broke one of her Grammys.

Olivia Rodrigo, who won three trophies at the Grammys, dropped one of her awards backstage and shattered it into two pieces, People reports. Photographers captured the shocked expression on the singer’s face as she dropped the trophy.

“That’s alright!” a photographer said while trying to comfort Rodrigo.

The 19-year-old won three trophies for best new artist, best pop solo performance and best pop vocal album.

Jazmine Sullivan won her first Grammy.

It was an unforgettable night for Jazmine Sullivan. The star’s magical night started when she won her first Grammy, earning the award for Best R&B Performance for “Pick Up Your Feelings,” Pitchfork reports.

She then took a Grammy for Best R&B Album for Heaux Tales.

“I think that I wrote this project to deal with my own shame and un-forgiveness around some of the decisions that I made in my twenties that weren’t favorable,” Sullivan said in her acceptance speech.

“But what it ended up being was a safe space for Black women to tell their stories, for us to learn from each other, laugh with each other, and not be exploited at the same time. That’s what I’m most grateful for. So shoutout to all Black women who are just living their lives and being beautiful. I love you all,” she added.
